Mount Haystack (Haystack Mountain)
Mount Haystack, sometimes called Haystack Mountain, is the third tallest Adirondack High Peak. The 4,960 foot (1,510 meter) summit is located in the Marcy Group in the Town Keene, Essex County. Little Haystack Mountain is a 4,692 sub-peak of Mount Haystack.
It should not be confused with Haystack Mountain, a very popular but much smaller peak between Lake Placid and Saranac Lake. That Haystack Mountain is a 6.6-mile (round trip) hike in the McKenzie Mountain Wilderness Area that leads to an open rocky summit with great views to the north and west.
