“Visitor Use Management” Forest PreserveThe Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) recently issued a Request for Proposals (RFP) for development of a “Visitor Use Management” Plan for the Central High Peaks Wilderness Area in the Adirondack Park and the Kaaterskill Clove/Route 23A corridor of the Catskill Park.

The RFP marks a major step forward in DEC’s efforts to evaluate and address a series of impacts to the natural resources, the visitor experience, and public safety due to high recreational use in these two popular destinations on the New York State Forest Preserve. Rangers Make Another Rescue at Kaaterskill Falls

Ranger Fox helps with rescue at Kaaterskill FallsAccording to a press release issued by the New York State Department of Environmental Conervation (DEC), on February 20th at 12:10 pm, Forest Ranger Fox responded to a report of a subject on the ice approximately seven feet from the edge of Kaaterskill Falls. Environmental Conservation Police Officer (ECO) Lt. Glorioso and ECO Palmateer also responded.

Rangers Recover Dog’s Body at Kaaterskill Falls; Respond to Snowmobile Accidents
