View, the Center for Arts and Culture in Old Forge, New York, has announced the new Henry M. Kashiwa Wetland Walkway is now open to the public, during View’s normal operating hours of Monday-Saturday from 10 am to 4 pm.
A formal opening and dedication of the Walkway is scheduled for June 30th, from 4:30 to 6 pm. The event will include a ribbon-cutting, live music, a cash bar and food, with special guests from the Kashiwa family and others who were integral in making the Wetland Walkway possible. The dedication will celebrate the culmination of nearly a decades-long effort from volunteers and donors to bring this project to fruition.
The Henry M. Kashiwa Wetland Walkway, named after the husband of View founder, Miriam Kashiwa, is a 460-foot traditional nature trail loop behind View that will allow visitors to experience an Adirondack wetland firsthand. Future plans include multiple viewing stations to be sited along the path to highlight particularly informative and inspirational views, with interactive signage and demonstrations of the ecology of the wetland being accessible through QR codes positioned around the trail, which can be read with most smartphones.
Access to the Walkway will be included in all general Gallery admissions. The Wetland Walkway is located directly behind View’s building and Courtyard.
View is located at 3273 State Route 28 in Old Forge. For more information visit their website.
