Hikers Rescued at Mt Marcy, Buck Mtn, Kaaterskill Falls, Cobble Lookout
New York State Department of Environmental Conservation Forest Rangers respond to search and rescue incidents throughout New York State. Working with other state agencies, local emergency response organizations and volunteer search and rescue groups, Forest Rangers locate and extract lost, injured or distressed people and engage in policing on New York State Lands.

NYS Acquires Adirondack Four Peaks Tract; Plans Expanded Bike Trail Network
The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) has acquired of 595 acres of forest in the Adirondack Park town of Jay, Essex County, known as the Four Peaks Tract, from the Adirondack Land Trust. Recreation Spotlight: The Flume Trails in Essex, and Clinton Counties
The Wilmington Flume Trail Network is located in the Wilmington Wild Forest and provides 11.5 miles of trails for snowshoeing and hiking. Those accessing these hiking trails from the Flume Trailhead West will pass a wildlife viewing area overlooking a beaver dam and pond and enjoy scenic views of the West Branch Ausable River. Featured Adirondack Hike: Clements Pond
This trail just south of Upper Jay, Essex County, in the Wilmington Wild Forest ascends 1.5 miles and 650 feet from a trailhead on Styles Brook Road to the shores of Clements Pond where hikers can enjoy views of the scenic pond, shoreline and nearby 2,550-foot Clement Mountain. This hike offers great views for little effort.
The trail in North Pole, Essex County, in the Wilmington Wild Forest, extends 1.3 miles one way with little change in elevation from a trailhead on Gillespie Drive (aka Franklin Falls Road) to a large rocky ledge with views of nearby Whiteface Mountain, and across the Ausable River drainage to Jay Mountain, Hurricane Mountain, and many other peaks.
