Time and the Valleys Museum
Time and the Valleys Museum’s annual Old Time Fair is being held on Saturday, July 29th from 10 am to 5 pm at the Grahamsville Fairgrounds on St. Rt. 55 in Grahamsville, in Sullivan County, NY.
Held rain or shine, events include horseshoe pitching, skillet tossing, games of skill, the annual pie auction, and local crafts vendors. Good food, live music and more throughout the day.
There will be old time craft demonstrations including hands-on quilting for children, the age old art of spinning wool into fiber and a blacksmith demonstrating the process of working iron into tools over a fire. The Time and the Valleys Museum has announced that an endowment fund has been established at the Community Foundation of Orange and Sullivan, located in Montgomery. The Community Foundation of Orange and Sullivan will manage the Terry Forshay Endowment Fund, exposing the fund to a wider audience to encourage and nurture its growth. The fund was established by the Museum to honor Master Gardener Terry Forshay of Willowemoc, NY, who passed away in 2008.
The Community Foundation of Orange and Sullivan facilitates and managed endowment funds that grow and benefit the community. July, 2017 is 100th anniversary of the first U.S. forces sent overseas to fight in World War I. The Time and the Valleys Museum in Grahamsville, NY will be honoring the men who fought in the war and the women who supported the troops by hosting a new exhibit and weekend of special programming on July 8th and 9th.
The new exhibit, A Rendezvous with Death: Local Sacrifice in the First World War highlights Sullivan County residents who participated in WWI. It includes photos, artifacts and little known facts and information about the war. Enterprise and Courage: Civil War Years at Lake Mohonk a talk by Robi Josephson will be held at the Time and the Valleys Museum on St. Rt. 55 in Grahamsville on Sunday, June 11, at 2 pm.

The Time and the Valleys Museum will be hosting an Open House for potential volunteers on Sunday, May 21, from 1 to 3 pm at the Museum on St. Rt. 55, Grahamsville. Anyone interested in learning about volunteering can join current volunteers for refreshments, a museum tour and information on both volunteering and the museum’s activities.
