Battle of Cobleskill: A New Look

Mohawk military and political leader Joseph BrantThe Summer Lecture Series at the Old Stone Fort Museum is set to continue on Thursday, August 9 at 7 pm with “A New Look at the Battle of Cobleskill”, with Schoharie County Historian Ted Shuart.

Historians and local residents may be familiar with the Battle of Cobleskill on May 30, 1778. The events of that day were later recorded by at least four prominent historians of the nineteenth century: Brown, Simms, Roscoe, and Warner. ‘Reconstructing Cobleskill’ Lecture at the Old Stone Fort

Fire Dept History Focus of Schoharie Co Historians Spring Meeting

The Annual Spring Membership Meeting of the Schoharie County Historical Society will be held on Monday, April 30 at the Schoharie Fire Department, located at 114 Fort Road in Schoharie, NY.

The evening will begin with refreshments at 6:30 p.m., followed by the 7 p.m. membership meeting, a program on the history of the Schoharie Fire Department and tours of the new fire house.
