Featured Natural Place: Vosburgh Swamp Wildlife Management Area

Vosburgh SwampVosburgh Swamp is a 290-acre Wildlife Management Area (WMA) in Greene County, NY comprised of forested uplands, tidal forested wetlands, tidal marsh, and small areas of freshwater wetlands. The area also features accessible waterfowl viewing and hunting blinds, multiple trails, and public parking. It was acquired by the State of New York from Scenic Hudson in 2012 and 2015. Hudson River and the Clean Water Act at 50

50 Years StrongRiverkeeper, New York State’s clean water advocate, will host “50 Years Strong: An Earth Day Event with Riverkeeper, Clearwater and Scenic Hudson,” a free virtual program set for April 20th.

In this program Tracy Brown, Riverkeeper’s new President and Hudson Riverkeeper, and David Toman, the new Executive Director of Hudson River Sloop Clearwater, will join Ned Sullivan, President of Scenic Hudson for over 23 years, in a conversation with activist and filmmaker Jon Bowermaster. New Sojourner Truth State Park in Kingston Opening This Spring

Sojourner Truth State ParkGovernor Hochul has announced that a new State Park to open to the public later this spring in Kingston, Ulster County, NY will be named for 19th century African American abolitionist and suffragist Sojourner Truth.

Covering more than 500 acres and a mile of Hudson River shoreline, this park was once an industrial site for production of cement, quarry stone, and ice harvesting.
