votes for womenThe Old Stone Fort Museum is set to host a lecture on the long battle for Women’s Suffrage, led by Glens Fall’s Chapman Historical Museum Educator and Celebrating Suffrage in Greater Glens Falls member Kim Harvish, on Thursday, July 25th, at 7 pm.

Harvish will lead participants through some of the most pivotal moments on the long road to the passing of the 19th Amendment to the United States Constitution in 1920, starting with the First Women’s Rights Convention in 1848 in Seneca Falls, NY. Palatine Settler Tour at the Old Stone Fort

New World Dutch Barn and Hartmans Doft House at Old Stone Fort MuseumHistorian Jeff O’Connor of Turning Point 1777 is set to present “The Restless Palatines of Schoharie Valley” at the Old Stone Fort Museum on Saturday, June 1 at 1 pm.

Decoration Day Event at the Old Stone Fort

Decoration Day Ceremony at the Old Stone Fort MuseumThe Old Stone Fort Museum Complex, in collaboration with local chapters of the Sons of the Union Veterans of the Civil War and the American Legion, has announced the return of their Decoration Day ceremony, set for Thursday, May 30th at 6 pm. This event will also be highlighted by performances by the Schoharie Valley Singers and Uncle Billy’s Balladeers.

The first Decoration Day observance in Schoharie County is believed to have occurred in Cobleskill in 1877, by the Civil War veterans organization the Grand Army of the Republic or GAR. Sled Dog History Lecture at Fort Plain Museum

Genealogy research has become one of the most popular pastimes in the United States today, with growing resources and technology opening up new ways for individuals to uncover the histories of their ancestors.
