Hanford Mills Museum Community Hit Hard by Trump Cuts

Hanford Mills Museum (HMM) in East Meredith, in Delaware County, NY, was informed this week that the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) has terminated its two federal grants for multi-year projects to complete what the museum calls “critical work.”

These terminations are part of the March 14 Executive Order calling for the elimination of the non-statutory components and functions of seven agencies, including the IMLS. The move is part of a wider attack on museums, libraries and reading programs by the Trump regime.

American Library Association, AFSCME Head to Court Over IMLS Dismantling

The American Library Association (ALA), the largest library association in the world, and the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME), the largest union representing museum and library workers, are challenging the Trump regime’s gutting of the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) – a non-partisan and independent agency dedicated to supporting and funding museums and libraries.
