Protect the Adirondacks 30 by 30 ReportIn 2022, Governor Kathy Hochul signed the “30 by 30” law that establishes a conservation goal for New York State of protecting 30% of the State’s “lands and inland waters” by the year 2030.

DEC Announces More Than $1.35 Million in Grants to Land Trusts

tug hill tomorrow land trust propertyNew York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) has announced more than $1.35 million in grants to six land trusts to help protect local forests that are considered key to achieving the state’s objectives to protect open space.

Grant funding will be used to acquire new easements to help keep forests as forests, safeguarding the ecosystem services they provide that include stormwater mitigation, temperature regulation, carbon sequestration, and climate resiliency. Boquet River Farm Easement Protects Salmon Fishery
