war college of the seven years warFort Ticonderoga is seeking proposals for papers broadly addressing the period of the Seven Years’ War for its Twenty-Seventh Annual War College of the Seven Years’ War to be held May 19th through 21st.

The Seven Years’ War (1756–1763) was a global conflict, largely between Great Britain and France, although involving other European powers as well. The conflict in North America began in 1754 at the beginning of what became known in the United States as the French and Indian War (1754–1763), which ended in France’s defeat as a land power. American Revolution Conference Set for March 18-20

This conference features scholars, historians and writers who are well-known to Revolutionary War enthusiasts, public historians and history professors. Speakers have been selected for their depth of knowledge and ability to give an engaging presentation.

Virtual Archaeology Conference To Focus On Arnold’s Bay, Lake Champlain

Arnold’s Bay Research ProjectThe Arnold’s Bay site on Lake Champlain is where, in 1776, General Benedict Arnold burned the remaining vessels of the American fleet to prevent their capture by the British during the last engagement in the northern theatre at the end of the American Revolution’s 1776 campaign season.

Research goals for this project were to use remote sensing techniques underwater and on land to define site boundaries and locate battlefield features. During the 2021 season, Museum archaeologists started survey work onsite, worked in collaboration with Stockbridge-Munsee Community and Abenaki leaders, and partnered with a Advanced Metal Detecting for the Archaeologist group to lead a course in metal detecting on the terrestrial portion of the battlefield.
