Hudson River School Exhibit Digital Tour Launched
The Albany Institute of History & Art has announced the launch of a new 3D digital tour of their Hudson River School exhibition.

Recycled & Refashioned: The Art of Ruby Silvious
For the past five years, Ruby Silvious has been painting and drawing on tea bags that have been steeped in hot water, emptied, and dried. The stained paper (and occasionally cloth) of the tea bags offers a distinctive canvas for her miniature paintings, which present a visual journal of her life and travels — a watercolor of breakfast or flowers encountered on a walk, a street scene of a French town, or a museum gallery and its art-loving crowds. Teaching Black History Through Theatre
The Albany Institute of History & Art is set to host a special program in honor of Black History Month entitled “Teaching Black History through Theater,” on Saturday, February 1st, at 2 pm.
Re-enactors Donald Hyman, Penny Meacham, Walter Simpkins, and Clifford Oliver will portray prominent local and national African Americans including Judge James C. Matthews, Sojourner Truth, Moses Viney, and Solomon Northrup. Each presenter will provide insight into how theatrical performances and re-enactments help tell the often unknown stories of important historical figures. Albany Institute Free On MLK Day
The Albany Institute of History & Art has announced they will offer free admission to the galleries on Monday, January 20, 2020 from 10 am to 5 pm.

Albany Institute’s Home for the Holidays Weekends
The Albany Institute of History & Art has invited the public to celebrate the start of the holiday season at Home for the Holidays, the museum’s annual free admission weekend the weekend after Thanksgiving.
This popular event draws thousands of people to downtown Albany to see the museum decorated for the holidays, enjoy fun family activities, start their holiday shopping, and take their own photographs with Santa. This year, Home for the Holidays will be Friday, November 29th from 10 am to 5 pm, Saturday, November 30th from 10 am to 5 pm, and Sunday, December 1st from noon to 5 pm. Hamilton Descendant Lends Objects to Schuyler Sisters Exhibition
Douglas Hamilton, a fifth great-grandson of Alexander Hamilton and Elizabeth Schuyler Hamilton, has lent objects to be shown in The Schuyler Sisters & Their Circle exhibition at the Albany Institute of History & Art.
The objects, recently on view at the Museum of the American Revolution in Philadelphia as part of their “Year of Hamilton” display, include a Society of the Cincinnati Eagle insignia owned by Alexander Hamilton and a gold mourning ring belonging to Elizabeth Schuyler Hamilton. Early Am Republic Friendships Lecture In Albany Sunday
The Albany Institute of History & Art is set to host a special lecture about friendships between men and women in early America on Sunday, October 27, 2019 at 2 pm.
