On December 14th, the Adirondack Center for Loon Conservation received a report of an iced-in loon on First Lake in Herkimer County. Loon Census Set for Saturday July 16th
The Adirondack Loon Center has announced their Annual Loon Census is set for Saturday, July 16th. The public can participate by signing up for to observe a lake, then visiting it from 8 to 9 am, counting the loons, and reporting their observations back to the Loon Center. Iced-In Loons Rescued on Lake George
On two different days this week, the Adirondack Center for Loon Conservation received reports about Common Loons which had been iced-in on Lake George.
Ice fishermen Nick Weis and Mattie Riley found and protected two loons from an eagle attack on Sunday, and ice fishermen Jason Jordan and Tim Denno found a third loon on Tuesday. Adk Loon Center Offers Lead Tackle Buy-Back Program
The Adirondack Center for Loon Conservation has invited Adirondack anglers to participate in its “Lead Tackle Buy Back Program” to protect Common Loons from lead poisoning. Anglers can trade in their lead sinkers and jigs this summer by bringing them to any of the eight participating retailers around the Adirondack Park. Loon Center Awarded Oil Spill Settlement Money
The Adirondack Center for Loon Conservation is one of six grant recipients in a natural resource damages settlement from the tank barge Bouchard B-120 oil spill that occurred in Buzzard’s Bay, MA, in April, 2003. Loon Center Raffling Unique Hornbeck Canoe
The Adirondack Center for Loon Conservation is raffling off a one-of-a-kind Hornbeck canoe. Pete Hornbeck invited his fellow members of the League of Extraordinary Adirondack Gentlemen (LEAG) to build this special boat in August, 2020, when, due to Covid-19 limitations, they were unable to go on their annual camping expedition.
