116th Congress 2D SessionWe are fortunate that New York State is represented in the US Congress by members of the House of Representatives and Senate whose steadfast support of our museum sector has historically helped sustain our federal funding agencies.

Re-opening NYS Museums Virtual Meet-Up Set

many virtual meetupMany regions in New York State have entered Phase 4 of Governor Cuomo’s Reopen NY and museums are following the mandated and recommended best practices to re-open safely for visitors and staff.

The Museum Association of New York is set to host their July virtual meet-up on Friday, July 17 at noon, where they will break down these reopening guidelines for museums, and speak with museum colleagues from across the state who have re-opened their doors to the public to learn more about their strategies, policies, and procedures. Pomeroy Fund For NYS History Launches 3rd Round

Museum Association Announces New Board Members

MANY New and Returning Board members (1)The Museum Association of New York (MANY) has announced the election of four new members to its Board of Directors and the election of two members to their second terms.

Newly elected board members are Mariano Desmarás, Michael Galban, Lara Litchfield-Kimber, and Emily Martz. Peter Hyde and Georgette Grier-Key have been re-elected to their second terms, bringing the total board size to 23. [Read more…] about Museum Association Announces New Board Members

Pomeroy History Fund 2nd Round Grantees Announced

Pomeroy Fund R2 GraphicThe Pomeroy Fund for NYS History has awarded an additional $50,000 in grants to provide general operating assistance to 18 history-related organizations in New York State.

This is the second round of funding disbursed through the Pomeroy Fund since it was established in April through a partnership between the William G. Pomeroy Foundation and the Museum Association of New York. During the first round, a total of $50,808 was awarded to 31 organizations forced to close due to COVID-19. NY History Emergency Funding Expanded

NYS Museums Working Together in Uncertain Times

MANY Update: Museums Conference Postponed, More

many logoThe Museum Association of New York’s Board of Directors voted unanimously to postpone the Annual Conference and Museum and Folk Art Forum until later in 2020.

An announcement sent to members and supporters said: “Although this decision was made because the health and well-being of our museum community comes first, it has severe financial consequences for the Museum Association of New York.”
