1758 Battle of Carillon Painting On View at Fort Ti

Don Troiani painting of 1758 Battle of Carillon (courtesy Fort Ticonderoga)Fort Ticonderoga has announced a special exhibition of a new painting by internationally renowned historical artist, Don Troiani, depicting the fury of the 1758 Battle of Carillon.

One of Britain’s costliest defeats, nearly 2,000 British and American soldiers were killed or wounded.

Fort Ticonderoga Completes $9M Pavilion Project

Pavilion grand opening courtesy Fort TiconderogaFort Ticonderoga has announced the completion of the $9 million restoration of the 1826 National Historic Landmark, the Pavilion.

The Pavilion was built as a summer home in 1826 by William Ferris Pell. He and his family occupied it through the 1830s. By 1840 the house had begun to be used as a hotel, its primary function through 1900. As a hotel, the house welcomed travelers passing through Ticonderoga while traveling by steamboat on Lake George and Lake Champlain. Independence Day Events at Fort Ticonderoga, July 2-4

Independence Day Weekend at Fort TiconderogaFort Ticonderoga will celebrate Independence Day with special events and programming during the holiday weekend, July 2nd through 4th.

Attendees will be able to experience the American Revolution on the very ground on which the fight for liberty occurred, with museum staff and costumed interpreters recreating and exploring the events of the year 1777. war college of the seven years warFort Ticonderoga is seeking proposals for papers broadly addressing the period of the Seven Years’ War for its Twenty-Seventh Annual War College of the Seven Years’ War to be held May 19th through 21st.

The Seven Years’ War (1756–1763) was a global conflict, largely between Great Britain and France, although involving other European powers as well. The conflict in North America began in 1754 at the beginning of what became known in the United States as the French and Indian War (1754–1763), which ended in France’s defeat as a land power.
