A new exhibit, “100 Years of Photographs from Morris Studio: 1892-1992” is set open on Saturday, August 18th at Rogers Mansion, 17 Meeting House Lane, Southampton, NY. A free opening reception will be held from 4 to 6 pm, refreshments will be served.
This exhibit presents the rich history of the South Fork on Long Island through the historic archives from The Morris Studio. The photographs date as far back as 1892. Tough The Morris Studio closed its doors in 2017 the photographs show a long lost era of time to be presented over 100 years later. Researching New York: A Conference on New York State History has extended their deadline for proposals to August 5th, 2018.
The 41st Annual Conference of the New Netherland Institute has been set for September 22nd, 2018 at the New York State Museum in Albany.
As part of a $59,966 grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) Humanities Collections and Reference Resources planning grant for the preservation and digitization of collections awarded to Historic Huguenot Street (HHS) in April, historians and authors Firth Haring Fabend and David William Voorhees have begun a scholarly evaluation of historical New Paltz documents at HHS and partner institutions: the Town of New Paltz, the Reformed Church of New Paltz, and the Haviland-Heidgerd Historical Collection at the Elting Memorial Library. 
After the morning Gathering at 10 am Saturday, August 4, 2018 for the 9th Annual Peterboro Emancipation Day at the Gerrit Smith Estate National Historic Landmark in Peterboro, the annual processional will carry two wreaths to the cemetery to lay on the graves of persons “Born a Slave, Died a Free Woman.”

The Trustees of The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation have approved a grant of $600,000 to Humanities New York to provide ongoing funding for the Public Humanities Fellowship, which offers support, mentoring, and training for graduate students in the humanities at nine partner universities to develop a public-facing humanities project, often in cooperation with a community group or nonprofit organization. 
The Fraunces Tavern Museum will debut its newest exhibition, Fear & Force: New York City’s Sons of Liberty on August 22, 2018.
