Wild Center Hosts Ways of Knowing Celebration

Ways of Knowing CelebrationThe Wild Center, located at 45 Museum Dr, Tupper Lake, is set to celebrate its Ways of Knowing partnership project on Saturday, July 6th from 10 am to 5 pm.

Following the celebration, the Center will host Joanne Shenandoah in concert from 7:30 to 9:30 pm. Together for the first time, Ways of Knowing and Joanne Shenandoah will explore the perspectives that different cultures have through their connection with nature and present a deeper look into Native American tradition and expression. Slavery, Freemen, the War of 1812, and A House Divided

Slavery drama actorsThe Sackets Harbor Battlefield State Historic Site has announced Slavery, Freemen, the War of 1812, and A House Divided, has been set for Saturday July 6, 2019 at 1 pm.

Attendees will have the opportunity to discover the story of slavery in New York State prior to the Revolutionary War, learn about African-American men serving at Sackets Harbor on combat ships in the War of 1812, and visit the historic site commandant’s house, home of a Southern-born Navy officer on the eve of the Civil War. Lower Manhattan Historical AssociationThe Lower Manhattan Historical Association (LMHA) is set to hold the fifth annual Independence Day march through Lower Manhattan on Thursday July 4, at 12 pm and a 3 pm ceremonial reading of George Washington’s “Newport Letter.”

Starting behind Castle Clinton in Battery Park, with an opening ceremony at 11:45 am. the LMHA march will then step off at noon at the conclusion of the Veteran Corps of Artillery-State of New York’s Salute to the Nation, a fifty round firing from 75mm Pack Howitzers. Rev War Artillery Demonstrations at Knox’s HQ

The 2nd Continental Artillery provided by Knoxs HeadquartersThe stone 1754 John Ellison House was the headquarters for Generals Nathanael Greene, Henry Knox and Horatio Gates during the American Revolution. General Knox, during his 1780-81 period of residence, brought along 300 soldiers of the 2nd & 3rd Continental Artillery regiments, who camped a mile away. NYS Archives Awards $5.3M For Records Management
