In 1935, Ted Case, the inventor of Movietone, the world’s first commercially successful process for putting sound on film, sold his former home for $1 to a group of local artists looking to create Auburn’s first art museum.
On October 13, 1936, the Cayuga Museum of History & Art opened to the public. Since then, the museum and its staff have been dedicated to showcasing the stories of our collective past and preserving memories for future generations.
On Saturday, October 10, 2026, from 5 until 7 pm, the Museum community will celebrate 90 years of service and look ahead to what the future holds.
The party will take place in the historic Willard-Case Mansion and feature light refreshments, live music, and a cash bar with beer, wine, and a specialty 90th anniversary drink. Their will be a silent auction of donated artwork from artists who were featured in the museum’s CNY Emerging Artist Project over the years.
Tickets are $35 General Admission, $30 Museum Members. Tickets can be purchased online here or by visiting the museum in person. Advanced ticket purchases are encouraged.
