As we come to the end of the 15th year of this almanac of New York State, I’m happy to announce that we’ve reached over 2 million readers over the last year.
After some 16,000 stories New York Almanack continues to inform and entertain about the world around us and what made it that way.
History, natural history, and outdoor recreation have always been our strongest areas of coverage, local food and farms and the arts have helped round out the Almanack experience.
This is not an fundraising letter, but I couldn’t produce the New York Almanack without the support of readers. Thank you!
If you haven’t helped out lately, I just got the annual $1,000 bill for behind the scenes tech, so please make a contribution here.
Also important has been the many writers – more than 200 people with a story to share. They carry the intellectual weight of New York Almanack. They make it worth reading. If you or your favorite organization isn’t connected with the Almanack visit our submission guidelines.
Over the past few years I’ve expanded podcast offerings and new book notices. If you have one you think we should promote just let me know.
Once again, thanks for writing, reading, and supporting the New York Almanack. Fifteen years really has seemingly flown by – here’s to the next fifteen!
I used to get the Almanac each day in my email. I donated money a few times. A while back I realized I wasn’t receiving it anymore. So I resubscribed. I STILL DIDN’T GET IT. I resubscribed again today…
Hi Victoria,
Thanks for supporting and reading the Almanack. In order to keep our email list current (we pay even for inactive users on the list) folks who don’t open the email are automatically removed after a few weeks. That appears to have been what happened to you.
I looked up your account and saw that you were still not subscribed so I’ve resubscribed you.
If it happens again, feel free to reach out. Or you can resubscribe here, but be sure to click the link that arrives in your email after you sign up.

Again, thanks for reading and supporting New York Almanack.
John
Congratulations John for continuing your fine work. I read NY Almanack every morning and often pass on articles as well. It is both an interesting and fun read. Having said that, talk is cheap so I will renew my subscription again soon and up the ante too!
Thank you for reading and for your continued support!
Continue doing the great work, John. With our local papers being so diminished or outright discontinued, we need the Almanack — it’s the way I start every morning.
Thank you Diane!
Thank you, John. I thoroughly enjoy the posts. The Almanack is a mainstay of my daily reads.
Best regards,
Mark
Thank you Mark!
