The fourth annual Albany Film Festival on Saturday, April 6, 2024, is expected to draw thousands of film lovers of all ages and highlight the work of major and regional filmmakers. The all-day event by the New York State Writers Institute at SUNY Albany, will feature screenings and discussions and a ceremony to honor Ironweed Award winners for their achievements in film.
One of the highlights of the film fest is the screening of short films.
New York-based filmmakers are invited to submit their film shorts for the 2024 Albany Film Festival Short Film Awards. Awards and monetary prizes will be given out for the following:
- Best Overall Short Film–$500
- Best Overall Student Short Film–$300, sponsored by The Brendan Fahy Bequette Fund.
- Best Comedic Short Film–$150
- Best Dramatic Short Film–$150
- Best Experimental Short Film–$150
- Best Documentary Short Film–$150
Short film submissions must have a connection to New York State. For student short film submissions, you must be a student in New York State.
Submissions must be 25 minutes or less in length, including titles and credits.
