Pulitzer Prize–winning biographer and historian Jon Meacham will receive the 2023 Empire State Archives & History Award from the Archives Partnership Trust on November 8, 2023 in Albany, NY and virtually.
The public is invited to hear Meacham speak about his career and the historical subjects of his numerous books with interviewer and host Harold Holzer.
2023 Empire State Archives & History Award Honoree Jon Meacham is a former executive editor and executive vice president at Random House, he is a contributing writer to The New York Times Book Review, a contributing editor to Time magazine, and a former editor-in-chief of Newsweek.
He is also the author of the New York Times bestsellers And There Was Light: Abraham Lincoln and the American Struggle (2022), His Truth Is Marching On: John Lewis and the Power of Hope (2020), The Soul of America (2018); Destiny and Power: The American Odyssey of George Herbert Walker Bush (2016); Thomas Jefferson: The Art of Power (2013), American Lion: Andrew Jackson in the White House (2009), and Franklin and Winston (2003).
Meacham holds the Carolyn T. and Robert M. Rogers Chair in the American Presidency and is a distinguished visiting professor at Vanderbilt University. A fellow of the Society of American Historians, he lives with his family in Nashville.
This event will be held on Wednesday, November 8, 2023 from 7 pm until 8:30 pm EST virtually and at the Cultural Education Center, 222 Madison Avenue, in Albany, NY.
