Croton Aqueduct & Croton Reservoir Dam Tours

Croton Reservoir Dam (courtesy Friends of Old Croton Aqueduct)Friends of the Old Croton Aqueduct will host two free, easy, 2 miles/2 hours (total) loop hike along the historic Croton Aqueduct and atop the Croton Reservoir Dam.

The Aqueduct was completed in 1842 to supply fresh water to New York City.

The leader of the tour, which will take place on Saturday, August 12, 2023 and Saturday September 9, 2023 at 10 am, will discuss the history and construction of the Old Croton Aqueduct and the features of the Croton Dam and the Old Croton Aqueduct Trail.

Participants will meet near the restrooms at the rear (south end) of the parking lot at Croton Gorge Park, on Route 129 in Cortlandt, Westchester County, NY. There is a fee of $10 per car to enter the park. (It’s a 15-minute taxi from the Metro-North Hudson Line’s Croton-Harmon Station.)

Pre-registration is required for the August 12th tour here and for the September 9th tour here.

These tours may be rescheduled if the weather is poor.
