The Ellwanger Garden, Rochester’s “secret garden” maintained by The Landmark Society of Western New York, has announced their Lilac Festival weekends have been set for May 13th-14th and 20th-21th, as well as their Rose/Peony weekend on June 3rd and 4th.
This living preservation site, established in 1867 by famed Rochester nurseryman George Ellwanger, boasts eight different kinds of perennials, including strong collections of peonies, roses, daylilies, hostas, irises and spring and summer flowering bulbs.
The Lilac Festival weekends will take place from noon to 3 pm. Admission is free, with a suggested donation of $5. The Ellwanger Garden is located at 625 Mt Hope Ave, in Rochester. For more information visit the Landmark Society of Western New York website.
