Town of Maine Demisemiseptcentennial Celebration

maine nyThe Town of Maine and the Nanticoke Valley Historical Society in Broome County, NY, have joined forces with the Town Rec Committee and several community members to plan a weekend of activities surrounding the town’s 175th anniversary celebration.

Here are just some of the activities being planned:

Bathtub Races; Beard-Growing Contest; Country General Store; Museum Tours; Family Activities & Games; Vendors; Cornhole Tournament; Trolley Rides; Tikes & Trikes Parade; Youth Activities & Games; Food Trucks Community Musical Performance; Lions Club BBQ; House Tours; Pancakes in the Park; Square Dance; Artisan Demonstrations; Sponsorship Opportunities; Music in the Park; and more.

In honor of the town’s incorporation on March 27th, 1848 the public is invited to a “Toast to the Town” at the pagoda at 6 pm on March 27th, 2023.

Event details will be available and updated regularly on the Town of Maine website, the NVHS site, and Facebook.

Volunteers are needed and signing up is easy by visiting the NVHS website.

Please note that the American Legion’s annual Memorial Day Parade will take place on Monday, May 29th. The Nanticoke Historical Society will host its annual Memorial Day Barbeque and Bake Sale following the parade.
