Central New York is renowned as one of the snowiest regions in the world. In the past, major snowstorms have crippled cities, towns, and farming country for weeks at a time.
From the Lake Ontario port in Oswego to the busy streets of Syracuse and Utica, every community in the region has found themselves buried from brutal snowstorms.
Fulton County, NY, writer Jim Farfaglia will discuss his new book Historic Snowstorms of Central New York (Arcadia Press, 2022) in a virtual presentation and at the Oneida County History Center beginning at 2 pm on Saturday, January 21st.
Historic Snowstorms of Central New York features over 100 towns and villages along with nearly 50 photographs stretching back to the 1880s. Fafaglia draws from personal memories, family diaries and newspaper accounts to craft a two-hundred year history of Central New York’s whiteouts, blizzards and snowstorms.
The book is available at the History Center bookstore and the author will sign copies at the event. This talk will also be held virtually via Zoom. For more information or to register, visit the OCHC website.
