In Blind Sight: From Canarsie, Brooklyn

November 25, 2022 by Bob Cudmore Leave a Comment

This week on The Historians Podcast, Bob Gumson discusses his memoir, In Blind Sight: From Canarsie, Brooklyn with Love, Music and Mischief (Troy Book Makers, 2020).

Bob Gumson grew up in Canarsie, Brooklyn, in the 1950s where, as a young boy, he loved music and enjoyed participating in sports and games with neighborhood friends.

Following a routine kindergarten eye exam, Bob and his family learned he had a progressive eye disease that would render him completely blind by the time he reached his early teens.

Bob’s disability would present many challenges, but it never prevented him from having an exciting and purposeful life. Bob Gumson lives in Albany, New York.
