To celebrate the Bicentennial of Ulysses S. Grant‘s Birthday, the Presidential Library at Mississippi State University has created a traveling exhibit about Grant’s life. Banners describe his life from his humble beginnings until his accession to the United States presidency.
The exhibition will be presented at the Brookside Museum at the Saratoga County History Center in Ballston Spa, Saratoga County, NY as part of an agreement between Friends of Grant Cottage.
As part of the celebration of the 18th president’s bicentennial year, the exhibit of eight panels, three feet wide and eight feet tall, was designed. The presentation describes the humble beginnings of Grant in Ohio until his accession to the presidency. His biography is told through text and historical images, and the exhibit includes replicas of objects from the Grant Library. The National Endowment for the Humanities is financially supporting the project through the Mississippi Humanities Council.
The exhibition is now on display and runs to November 11th during regular business hours, Thursday to Sunday from 1 to 5 pm. More information on the exhibit can be found here.
The Brookside Museum is located at 21 Fairground Avenue in Ballston Spa. Admission to the museum is free and donations are appreciated. For more information about the Brookside Museum visit their website.
