Pietrusza looks at a cast of characters from American history during the Great Depression: FDR, Alf Landon, Eleanor Roosevelt, Huey Long, Father Coughlin, and William Randolph Hearst.
Pietrusza has written more than 30 books mainly about national politics and baseball – including 1920 — The Year of the Six Presidents. He has also written a memoir about growing up in his home town of Amsterdam, New York: Too Long Ago. A Childhood Memory, A Vanished World.
