View Arts in Old Forge will host artist Mallory Zondag for her Natural Dyeing Lab, focused around creating a rustic quilt painting, on Sunday, September 25th.
This program will explore the art and science of how to mordant different fabrics like silk, wool, linen, and cotton, how to cook up dyes from goldenrod and avocado pits, marigolds, and onion skins as well as how to create an organic indigo vat. Attendees will also create a dyeing sketchbook full of information on how to dye at home and fill it with their fabric samples from the class.
This program will take place from noon to 4 pm. The workshop is $100 for members and $115 for guests and will cover the costs of all materials. Pre-registration is required as space is limited.
