The Town of Harrietstown and Saranac Lake Innovative Cycling Kids have completed a free community Bike Park in the Village of Saranac Lake.
The Saranac Lake Innovative Cycling Kids (SLICK), who spearheaded the project raised over $34,000, garnered support and a location from the Town of Harrietstown and as soon as possible, started digging with the help of Backslope Trail Building.
In addition to support from the town, fundraising from Pisgah Pedalfest and dozens of private and business sponsorships, the group received funding from the Saranac Lake Rotary Foundation, and got grants from the Cloudsplitter Foundation and Adirondack Community Recreation Alliance.
Located directly next to the Elks Ball Field on John Munn Road in the Village of Saranac Lake, the bike park features a pump track, jump line and hand built family friendly trails connecting it to the Adirondack Rail Trail.
Nearby, local trail building nonprofit Barkeater Trails Alliance (BETA) has also built a few miles of trails on property owned by Saranac Lake Central Schools, which can also be easily connected by a few local roads to the town owned Dewey Mountain Recreation Center which features over five miles of singletrack maintained by BETA.
