Monumental Women and the Girl Scouts of Greater New York have announced the launch of the Celebrate Women’s History Girl Scout Patch Program in honor of Women’s Equality Day.
The Patch Program gives Girl Scouts the opportunity to learn about women’s suffrage and the history of abolition in New York, the space to learn about the importance of recognizing and honoring these activists, and the tools to advocate for women’s representation in public spaces.
To achieve this patch, Girl Scouts must accomplish activities such as exploring the Women’s Rights History Trail Map created by Monumental Women, pushing for policy that honors women’s accomplishments, and educating those around them on the history of women’s suffrage in New York City. The program is open to any Girl Scout of any grade level.
The Patch Program is not only an opportunity to reflect on the accomplishments and impact of women, but is a chance to tangibly impact women’s representation, and to inspire young Girl Scouts that they, too, can change the course of history.
