April 16, 2022 by Editorial Staff Leave a Comment

ilion book coverIlion, My Childhood, My Memories (Self Published, 2022) by Kevin Hall is a book containing the many colorful antics of a young boy. A boy curious with the life around him, enjoying the many moments with his family and friends in his hometown of Ilion, Herkimer County, New York.

This memoir follows a young Kevin Hall from ages of 6 through 13, as he explores his hometown of Ilion, the neighborhoods he lived in, and the many friends he enjoyed spending time with. Hall relates his many adventures and the sometimes-unexpected consequences of those adventures.

The book also explores how the town physically changed as the boy grew into a teenager and would eventually leave, moving to another state and leaving behind all that was familiar – his home, his friends, his school, his young life.

Ilion, My Childhood, My Memories features anecdotes and several pictures of the town of Ilion from both before and after Urban Renewal happened in the late 1960s and early 1970s.

Kevin Hall attended Herkimer County Community College and Brockport State College. He is a husband, father, and grandfather and now lives with his wife in Rush NY, a suburb of Rochester. Hall is retired, after a 40-year career working for Remington Arms, Eastman Kodak, and the Xerox Corporation.

Hall attended three different elementary schools – North Street, Remington Plant and West Hill. He then attended Ilion Junior High through the end of eighth grade and moved with his family to Minnesota.
