The Hadley Business Association and the Town of Hadley will host the 4th annual Backyard Maple Syrup Makers Tasting Contest on Saturday, April 30th.
Residents within a 50 mile radius of Hadley, who have a maple tree or two on their property and boil their own sap can earn the bragging rights of producing the best tasting maple syrup. If you have less than 150 taps, gather and boil your own sap at home you are eligible to enter the tasting contest.
Syrup will be judged on its density, flavor and color by veteran maple syrup makers. To participate, bring a 1/2 pint of syrup in a clear glass container to Wilder’s Sugar Shack, located at 4088 Rockwell Street in Hadley before 11 am.
The winners will receive a blue ribbon and bragging rights for producing the best tasting maple syrup in the neighborhood. Winners will be announced at 2:30 pm at the NYS Maple Producers Association’ “Maple Experience” exhibit at the corner of Rockwell Street and Old Corinth Road.
