Two Arrested After Bank Robbery in Adirondacks

New York State PoliceAccording to a press release issued by New York State Police, at about noon on March 26th, State Police in Mayfield, Fulton County, NY responded to a report of a robbery in progress at the NBT Bank on Bridge Street in the Village of Northville.

Two male suspects fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of currency prior to the arrival of law enforcement. According to Police, no weapon was observed but the presence of one was implied. No one was injured during the incident.

A brief vehicle pursuit was initiated when patrols located the suspect vehicle a short time later. The pursuit ended on Gifford Road in the Town of Providence when both suspects fled from the vehicle. 33-year-old Gary Morehouse of Queensbury was immediately taken into custody. 31-year-old Jared Ellis of South Glens Falls fled on foot and was located after a search of the area.

Both men were charged with Robbery 1st Degree, a Class B Felony, and were arraigned in Perth Town Court before being remanded to Fulton County Jail without bail due to prior felony convictions.

State Police were assisted by the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office, Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office, and members of the Department of Environmental Conservation.

    Why was DEC contacted for a bank robbery?

      Likely they were some of the only first responders with police powers around and no doubt helped with the search.
