Roc-A-Natural and Staten Island Black Heritage in collaboration with National Lighthouse Museum will host “Keeping The Light: Black Lighthouse Keepers,” a program on the life of Harriet Tubman, set for Sunday, February 27th.
In this program, Award-Winning Actress Christine Dixon will portray Harriet Tubman, and tell the story of how she brought hundreds of enslaved people – including her own family – to freedom. She will also tell the story of Richard Etheridge, the first African American keeper of the United States Life Saving Service and stories of Sandy Ground’s oystermen. A Q&A session will follow the presentation
This program will take place both in person at the National Lighthouse Museum, located at 200 The Promenade at Lighthouse Point, Staten Island, and virtually via Zoom. Admission is $10 for the general public, $5 for Museum members.
