The New York State Museum has announced “Open Wounds: The Fifty-Year Legacy of the Attica Prison Uprising,” a new exhibit recognizing the 50th anniversary of the Attica Prison Uprising, opening on Saturday, September 9th.
“Open Wounds: The Fifty-Year Legacy of the Attica Prison Uprising” focuses on the various viewpoints of the September 1971 Attica prison uprising and its aftermath. It will also discuss the wider impacts of the event and create a dialogue as to why this story is important fifty years later.
New York State Museum Senior Historian Aaron Noble will also be presenting Searchlight Series: 50th Anniversary of the Attica Prison Uprising at the Eastern State Penitentiary Museum on September 7th, at 6 pm.
