‘Blues at Timbuctoo’ Music Event At John Brown Farm Sunday

September 16, 2021 by Editorial Staff 1 Comment

blues at timbuctooJohn Brown Lives! and Grand Adirondack Hotel will present the 7th annual Blues at Timbuctoo featuring Jerry Dugger; Karl Schwarz; Split Rock Ramblers; Soul Sky Duo with Mark Emanatian and Jeremy Walz on Sunday, September 19th, from noon to 5 pm.

Blues at Timbuctoo honors the connection between the blues and their origin in the area of Timbuktu (Mali, West Africa ) where many were kidnapped and brought to North America as slaves. Garrett Smith, a wealthy abolitionist and land owner, gave away 120,000 acres of land to 3,000 black New Yorkers to help them gain the franchise, thus creating the community of “Timbuctoo” in the Lake Placid area.

This event is free and open to the public, and will be held outdoors at the John Brown Farm State Historic Site, located at 115 John Brown Road in Lake Placid. More information is available online.
