The North Warren Chamber of Commerce has announce the second Great Brant Lake Canoe Race is set for Saturday, August 7th. Brant Lake, considered the location of the first log drives in America, is located just west of Lake George in the Adirondacks.
Paddlers will begin at the north end of the lake and paddle 5.5 miles into the outlet, finishing just above the Mill Pond dam in the Hamlet of Horicon. The race begins near the bridge at the north end of Brant Lake at 9:30 am. The finishes at The Hub’s dock upstream from the Mill Pond bridge. There will be an award ceremony at 12:30 pm after the finish at The Hub. There will be a prize for the best paddler costume.
The race originally began in the 1970s and was run by local community volunteers. Proceeds will benefit the North Warren Chamber of Commerce and the Bob and Gert Newtown Campership Fund at Camp Read.
