Rensselaer Co & City of Troy Historian To Lecture June 8th

1912 Map of Rensselaer CountyRensselaer County and the City of Troy Historian Kathy Sheehan is a native of Rensselaer County. Her ancestors settled in Sand Lake in the 1760s. She started her career in 1987 as an intern at the Hart Cluett Museum (formerly Rensselaer County Historical Society) while a student in the Public History program at UAlbany.

Sheehan has lectured widely on a number of local history topics and has been featured locally and nationally on PBS, the History Channel, and Russian and Japanese television. She is currently finishing a book, Architecture Worth Saving in Rensselaer County; 50 years later, a follow-up to Bernd Foerster’s Architecture Worth Saving in Rensselaer County, published by Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in 1965.

The Sand Lake Historical Society has announced a presentation by Sheehan set for Tuesday, June 8th.

This program will begin at 7 pm, at the Court Room in the Sand Lake Town Hall, located at 8428 NY 66, Sand Lake, New York. Reservations are required and can be made by calling (518) 527-9926. For more information visit the Sand Lake Historical Society website.
