June 24, 2021 by Editorial Staff Leave a Comment

Christopher Johnson The Sembrich, in Bolton Landing on Lake George, has launched its latest online program “Exploring Beethoven’s Pastorale Sonata with Pianist Christopher Johnson.”

This online presentation, part of their 2021 Nature & Music Summer Festival, features a curated article by The Sembrich’s Artistic Director Richard Wargo and a new recording of Beethoven’s Piano Sonata No. 15 in D Major, Op. 28, Pastorale. Beethoven’s Pastorale Sonata is hailed as the composer’s musical invocation of the calm and serene beauty of the natural world. Also included are digitized images from The Sembrich’s museum collection.

American concert pianist Christopher Johnson has appeared extensively in recital, on radio and TV, as soloist with orchestras, and in chamber ensembles throughout the United States, Canada, Central and South America, and Europe winning extraordinarily high critical acclaim. He has appeared in concert at The Sembrich numerous times, presenting engaging world-class performances. Johnson also created a recorded performance and exploration of several other Beethoven works as part of The Sembrich’s 20/20: Virtual Visionaries Online Summer Festival.
