In this performative lecture, Dr. Shauna M. MacDonald will share insights from her research about Lighthouses, Female Lighthouse Keepers, and the stories they tell.
Dr. Shauna M. MacDonald is Associate Professor at Cape Breton University in Nova Scotia, where she teaches courses in performance studies, gender, and communication. A student of culture, she is fascinated by communication and ritual in extraordinary places and by extraordinary beings, including coal mines and cyborgs. For the last few years, she has been studying lighthouses as sites of cultural memory, with a focus on the gendered elements of those memories and how we share them. She is an artist, scholar, performer, and educator whose mission is to unearth, keep, and share stories.
This lecture will begin at 2 pm, and will be held via Zoom. Admission is $10 per person, $5 for Museum Members. For more information or to register, click here.
