The St. Lawrence County Historical Association in Canton has launched “Campaign for the People of St. Lawrence County,” a $500,000 fundraising campaign to help fund new exhibits, create and fund new programming, and expand educational outreach activities.
The Historical Association owns and operates the historic Silas Wright House, located at 3 East Main Street, as well as the county museum, archives and the museum shop. Silas Wright, Jr. served as U.S. Senator from 1833-34 and the 14th Governor of New York State from 1845-46.
The museum has exhibits on a variety of local topics, highlighted by exhibits on famous native sons, wooden boat builder J. Henry Rushton, and artist and sculptor Frederic Remington.
