Plans Afoot For Adirondacks Children’s Museum

March 28, 2021 by Editorial Staff Leave a Comment

Play ADK Childrens MuseumPlay ADK is a nonprofit organization working to create a state-of-the-art children’s museum in Saranac Lake, NY that hopes to offer exhibits and experiences to engage children in meaningful play and exploration, and provide valuable resources for families.

The organization’s Board of Directors has a mix of nonprofit and business experience and is backed by investments from both individual donors and private foundations. In addition to our core mission, Play ADK also hopes to spark the revitalization of Saranac Lake’s historic Depot Street neighborhood, providing a boost for the local economy and creating an attraction for tourists.

Play ADK is planning to renovate a historic, two-story abandoned warehouse and large industrial site on Depot Street in Downtown Saranac Lake into a 15,000-square-foot state-of-the-art children’s museum and family resource center.

Play ADK Founding Members who support the effort are being recognized with distinctive building blocks as part of an interactive sculpture. The sculpture will be a permanent feature of the new museum and will celebrate, in a tangible way, the active role in and generous support of those who join Play ADK’s efforts.

The organization has so far raised close to $40,000 of their $150,000 goal of their Founding Member Campaign. Stay tuned for exciting
