The Graduate Program in Museum Studies and the College of Law at Syracuse University are set to host a virtual symposium March 17-19, which will take a deep dive into the complex issues surrounding deaccessioning, from a broad set of perspectives. Deaccessioning is the process by which art, artifacts and other materials are permanently removed from a museum’s collection.
The symposium will bring together experts from across the art and museum world, from seasoned museum professionals to directors and trustees, scholars, legal experts, artists, auction houses, journalists and influencers.
Keynote addresses will feature Stephanie Johnson-Cunningham, Co-Founder and Creative Director of Museum Hue, and Christopher Bedford, Director of the Baltimore Museum of Art.
Museum Association of New York members have a $25 registration fee, 50% off the standard fee of $50.
