Youth Art Camps Returning to Old Forge this Summer

View_Youth Art CampView, the Center for Arts and Culture in Old Forge, has announced three themed one-week youth art camps set for the summer of 2021.

The first session is set for July 5th-9th, and the theme will be “Design & Create: All Things Paper.” It will be open to ages 10-13. Each day will run from 9 am to noon and focus on the many different things can you do with paper. Projects will include: Design & Create your own logo, creating a rubber stamp that represents you, learn paper mache and creating your own piñata, and more. Member pricing is $130 per child and non-member pricing is $150.

Week 2 runs July 12th-16th from 9 am to noon, is open to ages 10-13, and will be themed “Art from Nature.” Artistic creations are made from items found in nature including leaves, sticks, bark, pebbles, seed pods, nuts, berries, petals. Options are endless; anything in nature can be used. Projects will include: creating cards from petals, bark, leaves and sticks, Tie Dye (creating a tie dye shirt using natural ingredients like blue berries, cabbage and other natural materials), and learn the art of candle making. Member pricing is $130 per child and non-member pricing is $150.

The last session will be July 19th-23rd, from 9 am to noon, open to ages 13-16 and is “Glass Week.” Kids will learn to create using color and light and designing unique glass pieces. Explore the possibilities for using glass to express yourself. Projects will include: cutting, framing, and arranging a stained glass piece, learn slumping – arranging pieces of fusible glass on a mold or free-form for use in a high-fire kiln to create colorful projects, and more. Member pricing is $150 and non-member pricing is $170.
