DEC’s Division of Lands and Forests has released the 2020 New York State Forest Action Plan. This document is revised every 10 years and provides long-term strategies for addressing the challenges faced by forests today.
The 2020 plan is the result of extensive collaboration with stakeholders and public involvement and outlines the State’s path for achieving four main goals over the next 10 years:
- Keep New York’s forests as forests
- Keep New York’s forests healthy
- Increase forest benefits for humans and all living creatures
- Appreciate, support, and protect New York’s forests
