The Cornell Land Trust Bird Conservation Initiative (LTBCI) has announced they are offering around $300,000 in grants for land trusts in 2021.
Through the Bissonette & Hemphill Habitat Preservation Program, the LTBCI will offer 1 to 3 grants of up to $50,000 each for the purchase of land or conservation easements in California that closed in 2020 or will close in 2021. Funds will support direct acquisition costs only, and applicants must clearly demonstrate the land’s importance to birds and/or bird conservation.
The Land Trust Initiative will also award up to 6 capacity and partnership project grants of $5,000, as well as 7 grants of $25,000 for management and restoration projects to land trusts throughout the U.S.
During the past 4 years, the program has awarded 22 grants totaling $245,000 in 18 states. This new round of grants will underwrite up to 16 projects that address bird conservation and land stewardship on land trust properties.
The deadline for proposals March 1st, 2021. Awarded grants will be distributed at the end of May. Learn how to apply.
