The Healing Wilderness Juried Art Show Call for Artists

November 27, 2020 by Editorial Staff Leave a Comment

the healing wildernessNorthWind Fine Arts Gallery has announced a Call for Artists for their next upcoming juried show “The Healing Wilderness.” Artists are invited to share works inspired by the power of wild places to heal.

Selected works will be displayed in digital format at NorthWind Fine Arts Gallery during Saranac Lake’s “Winter Carnival.” Selected works also will be featured on the NorthWind Fine Arts Gallery website and social media. Award-winning pieces will be showcased on North Country Public Radio’s virtual art gallery, the UpNorth Gallery.

This year’s juror will be David Kanietakeron Fadden. Fadden is an accomplished painter, illustrator and Mohawk storyteller. He was raised in Onchiota, NY in a traditional Mohawk household where he was taught to view everything as living and having a spirit. As a child, he participated in ceremonies to offer thanks for the earth’s lifegiving entities through ancient prayers, songs and dances. Animals, the Adirondack mountains and the Mohawk people are favorite sources of inspiration for his art, and his work has been exhibited at the Lake Placid Center for the Arts, Centre Strathean in Montreal, Quebec, the Unison Arts & Learning Center in New Paltz, NY, the Cornwall Regional Art Gallery, and the National Museum of American Indian and the Aboriginal Art Centre in Gatineau, Quebec.
