Erie Canalway Photo Contest Winners Announced

Sam Patch at Schoen Place by Kevin TubioloThe Erie Canalway National Heritage Corridor has announced the winners of this year’s Erie Canalway Photo Contest.

435 images were judged in four contest categories: On the Water, Along the Trail, Canal Communities, and Classic Canal. Judges selected first, second, and third place winning images in each category, as well as 12 honorable mentions.

Butternut Creek Aqueduct by AT McLeanFirst place winners included:

  • On the Water: Sam Patch at Schoen Place (Pittsford) by Kevin Tubiolo, Rochester;
  • Along the Trail: Butternut Creek Aqueduct (DeWitt) by A.T. McLean, Syracuse;
  • Canal Communities: Iconic Flight (Lockport) by Alan Schwartz, Rochester; and
  • Classic Canal: Upper Hudson Sunrise (Northumberland, Champlain Canal) by Susan Meyer, Schuylerville.

Contest winners will be featured in the 2021 Erie Canalway Calendar, which will be available for free at libraries, visitor centers, and by request beginning in December.
