Fraunces Tavern Museum to Reopen Sept 16th

September 7, 2020 by Editorial Staff Leave a Comment

Fraunces Tavern Museum is set to reopen to the public on Wednesday, September 16th, and will be open on a reduced schedule, Wednesday through Sunday from 1 to 6 pm, offering access to six of its galleries, including the historic Long Room and Clinton Room.

Fraunces Tavern is a museum and restaurant at 54 Pearl Street in Lower Manhattan. The building played a prominent role in history before, during, and after the American Revolution, including served as a headquarters for George Washington, a venue for peace negotiations with the British, and housing federal offices in the Early Republic.

The reopening is part of the Museum’s virtual Tavern Week, which will include a virtual lecture, a special Tavern Talks episode with the historic Neirs Tavern, and social media take overs featuring Gadsby’s Tavern Museum, Keeler Tavern Museum, and Golden Ball Tavern Museum.

All of the Museum’s Tavern Week programming will take place online throughout the week of September 13, and reservations for Museum visitors will be available on September 7 on the Museum website.

The Fraunces Tavern Museum is located at 54 Pearl Street, New York City.
